From the moment you land in Bangkok, your Thailand adventure begins. After checking into your hotel, you’ll have a chance to relax by the pool or head out to experience your first taste of the city’s energy, colours and flavours. The next day, you’ll travel south to a traditional Thai village on the edge of Kui Buri National Park, where you’ll spend the week living and working alongside local farmers and conservationists.
This is where the real heart of the trip unfolds. You’ll discover how communities have adapted their farming practices to live alongside wild elephants, replacing traditional crops with alternatives such as ginger, basil, turmeric and citronella that naturally deter elephants while providing a sustainable source of income. You’ll learn about organic and permaculture techniques, crop rotations and integrated farming systems, and see first-hand how innovative solutions like beehive fences, camera traps and natural barriers are helping to reduce conflict between people and wildlife. There will also be the chance to roll up your sleeves and contribute directly to local conservation efforts, including building hornbill nest boxes to support threatened bird species. More than anything, this is an opportunity to immerse yourself in village life, understand the challenges facing rural communities, and see how conservation and agriculture can work hand in hand.
After your time in the village, you’ll return to Bangkok to explore Thailand’s vibrant capital. With a local guide, you’ll cruise along the city’s canals by longtail boat, visit the magnificent Grand Palace and discover the famous Wat Pho, home to the reclining Buddha. Depending on your flight time on the final day, there may be time for one last swim or some souvenir shopping before heading to the airport.
You’ll leave Thailand with a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture, wildlife conservation and Thai culture, along with memories and friendships that will stay with you long after you return home.
