A new suicide awareness and prevention eLearning module is now available for YFC members.
Developed by the Farm Safety Foundation in partnership with Baton of Hope and funded by the Royal Foundation, the online course is tailored specifically for farming audiences.
The course is designed to reflect the realities of agricultural life and addresses challenges such as:
The course will also help YFC members recognise the warning signs, use supportive and non-judgemental language and teach you how to develop simple safety plans.
Clear signposting to available specialist help in the sector is also highlighted throughout.
The course only takes around 30 minutes to complete and is delivered in two modules.
According to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures, 47 people working in agriculture lost their lives to suicide in 2024.
Behind those statistics, there are families and a YFC community changed forever. Working with the Farm Safety Foundation, NFYFC wants to help address the urgent need for early intervention and better access to mental health support across the farming sector.
This course will not only raise awareness about mental health but also equip you with the skills to support others.
An extra incentive for encouraging others to take the course with you, is that if seven or more members from your county successfully complete the course, your county federation will receive £100, thanks to support from The Farm Safety Foundation.
You need to be 16 years and older to take the course and must register your interest on this form.
You will be sent a link to complete the course and will have 14 days in which to do this before the link expires.
The deadline to register interest is 4 June 2026.
