Jago's move from Oxfordshire to Norfolk, driven by his college course in tree surgery, has brought new vitality to Diss YFC. In a remarkably short time, he has made an impact on both Diss YFC and the wider Norfolk YFC community.
In his first year, Jago quickly got involved in the club – even taking on a committee role. His ability to build relationships extended beyond the club, as he established connections with other YFCs and has united them in social and competitive meetings.
Jago's friendly personality and can-do attitude have contributed greatly to Diss YFC's growth. He has promoted the club and encouraged new and younger people to attend meetings, who have then become members. He has also been committed to supporting the club’s charitable activities by participating in charity bike rides and sourcing, transporting, and selling items at jumble sales.
As the club's Press Secretary, Jago has captured plenty of club photos and he’s been great at supporting social events – ensuring everyone gets home safely.
Introduced to the world of Tug of War this year, Jago quickly became a key organiser of mid-week training sessions, which contributed to Diss YFC's qualification for the Eastern Area for the first time in years.
With no background in YFC, Jago has been a breath of fresh air to the club and county. He’s offered constructive suggestions on how YFC can appeal to non-farming members and improved the competitions programme to make it more inclusive.
Jago has shown a real commitment to the YFC values of fun, learning and achievement and achieved an impressive amount in his first year.
Jago has thrown himself into YFC life in his first year and become an integral member of Diss YFC. He has used his skills and personality to help the club’s growth and development – and he has even reached out to other clubs too. We can’t wait to see what Jago achieves next for YFC!
