Recent activities we have held:

The club has recently taken part in the Shropshire County Show, which allowed members to showcase talents in the home section. We also took on the big task of making and decorating a float for the main ring.

Competitions we enjoy:

The club has been huge fans of Public Speaking competitions and has had many successes over the years. Recently we have enjoyed doing extremely well in Drama competitions, performing our last Pantomime at the national final.

Our work in the community:

Alberbury YFC has for a number of years held breakfast mornings for the local community. These welcome people to enjoy breakfast, cooked and served by the club, and have a good chat.

Why we are Club of the Month:

The club chose to take on a huge charity challenge for its 75th anniversary year, raising money for Brain Tumour Research, the Welsh Air Ambulance and Alberbury YFC.

These three charities are extremely close to our members' hearts.

Our Club Chair decided we would complete the Welsh Three Peaks – Pen y Fan, Cadir Idris and Snowdon over two days, as well as cycle the 140 miles between the peaks.

The challenge was immense but the club came together in training, completing a lot of local hills, long bike rides and spinning classes.

We couldn't have completed the challenge without the wonderful support crew that we had with us, who provided much-needed sweet cake breaks and breakfast at nine once the first walks of the day were complete!

The members battled through rain and hot weather and raised over £5,000, with money still coming in. We are over the moon with this huge achievement and can't wait for the money to help the charities it has raised vital funds for.

We would also like to thank our sponsors whose belief from the start that we could do this definitely helped.

If anyone would like to support us our Just Giving page is still available.

The judges' comments

Members of Alberbury YFC put in loads of effort with their fundraiser – from the promotion and fundraising to actually managing the challenge itself!

We loved the way the club pulled together to complete the challenge but we were also impressed with the regular breakfasts they host to support the community too.
