In February, we played table tennis at Thwaites Village Hall, followed by pizzas, a fundraising car pull (see more on that below), and we joined Drugg UGV to practice some Cumberland wrestling with Waberthwaites Cumberland wrestling team.
We always have a good turnout for Stockjudging and Tug of War.
We support the local community when they need us. Last year we cleaned the graveyard and this year we will be helping erect a fence for the local nursery.
We raised more than £14,000 with around 60 of our members pulling and pushing a car for more than 17 miles in south Cumbria this month.
We took part in the hilly challenge, between Millom School and Broughton Square, via the Ulpha Valley, to raise money for Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team.
The charity car pull was organised in memory of one of the club’s cherished members who died in a farm accident a decade ago.
The mountain rescue team will put the money towards building a new base.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, our sponsors and to those who supported us on the route.

An amazing achievement from Broughton YFC – not only in the way they physically pulled together for the car pull but also in their fundraising efforts.
We thought it was a special tribute to your former YFC friend and one that engaged the whole community. Well done everyone.
