Looking for an unforgettable adventure? Join fellow YFC members on a two-week volunteering trip to Ghana in August 2026! You’ll get hands-on experience in sustainable farming, work alongside local schools and communities, and immerse yourself in Ghana’s vibrant culture — from cooking and drumming to exploring Cape Coast and the rainforest canopy. This is your chance to make a real difference while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

What Else Do I Need to Pay For?

Deposit, Experience, Flights, Visa, Insurance and Social Expenditure. A £30 deposit is also payable to NFYFC which will be returned when the member produces a multimedia presentation about their trip.

More Info About the Trip

Accommodation will be in a local guesthouse. Transport to and from the site will be arranged each day.

Throughout this trip, you will work at a small farm in the Akuapem Hills, where you will take part in sustainable farming and community activities!

The group will help to grown produce such as plantain, papaya and yams to donate to local people and care centres. They will also care of animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and learn more about flower production, land management, composting and weeding.

Working alongside the Tore Eikland school, the group will develop the village’s green spaces together through activities such as:

  • removing invasive species
  • preparing the soil and planting native tree Creating wildlife habitats
  • engaging children and the community in environmental activities
  • setting up a seed nursery
  • monitoring local wildlife

At the weekend, the group will have the opportunity to travel to the slave fort at Cape Coast and walk along the canopy walkway in Kakum National Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about Ghanaian history and culture and take in some of the stunning scenery from the forest canopy. Become immersed in local life as you learn to cook a Ghanaian dish and participating in a drumming lesson!

Each afternoon, you’ll help out at the village’s school. Play games, teach students some basic English, or engage in fun arts and crafts activities!
