Members of Collingham YFC in Nottinghamshire will get to enjoy an incredible day out at Oaker Wood Leisure in Herefordshire after winning this year’s National Young Farmers’ Week club challenge.
The club created a video and shared it on TikTok and Instagram promoting their activities and the range of members involved in their club.
Club Chair Joel Cotton was elected to his role in September and was eager to support National Young Farmers’ Week and win the prize.
“When I saw the email about this year’s National Young Farmers’ Week challenge, I thought the prize would be a great treat for the members – something to give back for all the support they give in running the club.”
Joel worked together with his Club Secretary Oliver Wilson to create the video and the message in their post but says it was a club effort to pull it together.
“Everyone was behind the idea of entering and they all contributed photos from events and activities they have enjoyed. We had loads to choose from,” added Joel.
The text with their video post said:
‘We’ve done a round up of why we all love YFC so much and to promote ourselves to the community! We can honestly say that #YFCisforEveryone and our members really show that too, with a range of ages, backgrounds, career paths, genders, interests there is no organisation quite like it that supports such a varied demographic!’
The club hosts a wide-range of different meetings to cater for all interests and even subsidise the cost of external activities, when possible, to ensure everyone can get involved.
Their new members’ night this month attracted new junior members and Joel is hoping to see the club grow further.
“We have an open book policy, no judgements, everyone is welcome. We all say hello to everyone in the meeting and are friendly,” said Joel.
Up to 20 members from Collingham YFC will now get the chance to enjoy an exciting day of paintball, high ropes, and rafting/Laser Clays at Oaker Wood Leisure in Herefordshire. The prize also includes a delicious hotdog lunch (or veggie alternative) to fuel their activities.
They will also have the opportunity to extend their stay at the glamping village at a special discounted rate.
