Take part in the National Conversation to discuss rural communities

NFYFC is inviting Young Farmers to take part in the National Conversation, a UK wide listening initiative for people to share what they value about community life.

NFYFC is hosting its own online conversation and inviting Young Farmers, aged 10-18, to discuss what it means to belong to a rural community.

This is your chance to share rural young people’s views on this topic and your (anonymised) conversation will be shared with a national commission that influences change. Your views will also help shape NFYFC’s future work.

When: Wednesday 14 October, 6.30–7.30pm.

Where: Online on Zoom - join from a phone, tablet or computer.

Who: YFC members aged 10–18.

Led by: Jessica Rose, NFYFC National Chair of Council, with five young members from across the Areas.

Places: 50, first come first served.

What happens on the night

This is a conversation, not a webinar. After a short welcome you will be in a small group led by another young member, talking about the communities you belong to, what makes people feel welcome, and what would make things better. You can speak, type in the chat or add your ideas - whichever you prefer. Cameras and microphones are optional.

Why it matters

The Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion is asking people across the UK how we live well together. Its report comes out later this year. Rural young people's voices are rarely heard in conversations like this one – this is your chance to change that. What we hear will also shape NFYFC's own work.

Book your place

Bookings close 8pm on Monday 12 October, or sooner if all 50 places go.

A parent or guardian needs to complete the booking form, which takes about five minutes. The joining link will be emailed shortly afterwards.

Please note: A member of NFYFC staff or a trained volunteer is present in every group. The session isn't recorded, no names are shared with the Commission, and no adult is ever alone online with a single young person.
