NFYFC Is looking for a YFC member to represent rural young people’s views and help shape their future by joining the Youth Council UK Executive Committee.
NFYFC members aged 16-25 can put themselves forward for election to represent the Federation on the committee for a chance to:
- Influence national policy and ensure rural young people's voices are heard by government and decision-makers
- Contribute to the National Youth Strategy and shape youth services across the UK
- Lead and participate in campaigns on issues including equality, climate change, education, and local concerns
- Develop leadership skills and gain invaluable experience in youth representation
- Network with youth leaders from across the UK and build lasting connections
This is an exciting opportunity to use your voice and play an active role in shaping the development and future direction of Youth Council UK.
Youth Council UK is the newly revitalised national youth council, created on the legacy of the British Youth Council, which for more than 76 years championed young people's voices at national level.
Youth Council UK has been created to restore and reimagine national youth representation for a generation of young people who are hungry for change.
The aim is to ensure that young people have a genuine seat at the table, not simply as observers but as leaders. Whether influencing national policy, contributing to the upcoming National Youth Strategy, or running campaigns on equality, climate, education or local issues, Youth Council UK will enable meaningful youth impact.
What's involved:
- Term of service: Typically two years, with opportunities to reapply or mentor new members
- Time commitment:Monthly meetings (flexible to fit around school, work, or other commitments), with opportunities for additional involvement if you choose.
- Location: Meetings are held both in-person and virtually.
- Expenses covered:All reasonable expenses including travel, subsistence, and costs associated with additional needs are fully covered by Youth Council UK – there are no financial barriers to participation.
