Find out more about Moorgate Finance

We've gathered up your frequently asked questions about NFYFC's new partnership with Moorgate Finance.

1. Who are Moorgate Finance and what do you do?

Moorgate Agricultural Finance is the farming arm of Moorgate Finance. Our in-house agricultural specialists understand how farming works, from seasonal income to the value of your assets. So, you'll deal with people who speak your language, not a general lender working from a standard checklist.

Our funding options include:

  • Machinery and equipment finance: tractors, combines, telehandlers, balers, precision farming technology and more, through hire purchase, leasing or refinancing.
  • Livestock finance: to buy or expand breeding stock and herds.
  • Cash flow and working capital loans: to cover inputs, rent, wages or unexpected costs.
  • Seasonal bridging: to cover the gap between spending out and getting paid, whether you're waiting on harvest, a sale or subsidy payments.
  • Diversification funding: for projects like renewables, farm shops, holiday lets, glamping or processing.
  • Infrastructure and building projects: sheds, storage, housing and site improvements.

2. Why did you want to partner with NFYFC and how will it benefit members?

Young Farmers members are the future of British agriculture, and we want to be there from the start. We want to build long-lasting relationships where we get to know members, understand their ever-changing challenges and support them as they grow.

Over the next 12 months, members will have direct access to our agricultural team. That includes things like free Business Health Checks, practical funding advice and finance options built around farming. Whether you're taking your first steps into farming or growing an established business, we're here to help you make it happen.

3. What is your experience in the agricultural sector?

Agriculture is at the heart of what we do. Our in-house specialists have hands-on knowledge of the sector, and several of our team have close links to Young Farmers, including former members. They know the challenges members face because they've been there themselves.

We're proud advocates of British farming. We believe a strong, well-funded farming sector matters to rural communities and to the country as a whole, and backing the next generation is a big part of that.

4. What projects will Moorgate be supporting?

Any and every project! We can start with a free Business Health Check to look at where your finances stand today. From there, we can fund almost anything a farming business needs, including:

  • New or used machinery and equipment
  • Cash flow loans and working capital
  • Bridging seasonal gaps in income
  • Livestock purchases
  • Diversification projects
  • Buildings, infrastructure and upgrades

If you've got a plan or an idea, talk to us. We'll help you work out the best way to fund it.

5. How can Moorgate help farmers understand their finances and financial position?

Through our free Business Health Check. One of our agricultural specialists will sit down with you and go through your current finances, borrowing and funding arrangements. It gives you a clear picture of where your business stands. We'll point out opportunities to improve cash flow or restructure existing finance and help you plan for what's next.

There's no obligation. It's there to help you make informed decisions, whether you go on to borrow from us or not.

6. Will members have opportunities to meet representatives from Moorgate?

Absolutely! We'll be at key events throughout the year, including the YFC Achiever Awards ceremony on 12 December 2026 and major industry shows such as Cereals. More dates will be announced soon, so keep an eye on NFYFC channels. We look forward to meeting you!

There is also a dedicated Moorgate Finance phone line for YFC members – 01223 380451 and a website page for Young Farmers on the Moorgate Finance website, which includes a link to the free business health check.
