The NFYFC Fence Erecting Competition, sponsored by EstateWIRE, offers young farmers a platform to demonstrate their skills in building a stock-proof fence. Teams of three, all aged 28 or under, will showcase their ability to plan, budget, and construct a fence using traditional tools. The competition tests practical expertise in handling materials, using hand tools, and working efficiently as a team. Participants must build a 30-meter fence, following specific guidelines, including a box strainer assembly and precise wire tensioning.
This competition not only sharpens essential farming skills but also encourages teamwork and problem-solving under pressure. The National Final will take place on July 5, 2025, at the County Showground in Stafford, where teams from across the UK will compete for the prestigious EstateWIRE National Farm Skills Challenge Cup
