YFC members are invited to take part in a farm safety evening at Harper Adams University (HAU) this February, which includes practical activities.
NFYFC have collaborated with HAU to provide an interactive event to improve young farmers’ skills ahead of NFYFC’s Farm Machinery Skills competition.
The evening event, which costs £10 per person, includes food and refreshments and will he held on 26 February 2026 from 6pm.
It will give young farmers the chance to take part in four training workshops with representatives from Lantra, RABI, NFU Mutual, The Farm Safety Foundation, Tilly Your Trailer, Ludlow Training Company, National Grid, Len’s Light and Shropshire Rural Support.
On completion of the four sessions, participants will receive a Harper Adams University Certificate of Achievement.
Sessions include a farm tour and first aid training, as well as ATV and Farm Machinery refresher sessions to reinforce the safe use of vehicles. National Grid will also share insight about powerlines and what to do if machines encounter them.
You can also expect general farm safety advice on topics such as chemical storage and slurry pits, as well as discussions to raise awareness around mental health in farming.
There is a maximum of 75 spaces, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased online here.
