It’s the start of a new YFC membership year, which can be exciting and challenging for members who have taken on roles in their clubs.
We asked a range of officers what made them say YES to taking on a role and one thing they’d like to achieve or build on in their role this year.
“Taking on the role of St Peter’s YFC’s Secretary felt like a great opportunity to take on more responsibility and give something back to a club that has given me many opportunities.
“I’m really looking forward to doing the role to the best of my ability and encouraging more young people to get involved and enjoy being part of our club.”
“I am Treasurer and wanted to give back to the club after it has helped me so much and to help raise some more money for charity.”
“I enjoy organising and wanted to take on the role of Chair to improve my leadership skills, gain experience and make new connections through YFC.
“I’d like to encourage our younger members to get more involved, take on more roles and opportunities, and achieve more through YFC.”
“As Club Chair I took on the role to push the club during the restart and get it running. I hope to relaunch the senior club and increase membership and participation during the year.”
“I said yes to taking on the role as Club Secretary because I enjoy being involved in the club, keeping everything organised and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.
“This year, I’d love to build on what we already have, encouraging more members to get involved and making this year another successful year for the club!”

“I am a joint club leader and I want to see young members flourish through YFC opportunities. I’d love to compete at a national level again for my club to grow.”
“What made me say yes? I actually put myself forward for the role of programme secretary because I loved the idea of making people’s Tuesday nights memorable. I also loved the organisation of doos – it was so fun!
“This year I would like to carry on building my confidence within the events in Young Farmers.”
“I said yes to the role of Vice Chair to continue to develop the opportunities our club can offer. I’d like to bring more Suffolk members up to the national YFC level."
