Leading Charnwood YFC's 60 members is a team effort and Club Chair Jack Reading works closely with his Secretary Rosie Farragher to ensure everyone gets the most out of the club.
We both wanted to make changes to ensure more members wanted to compete, learn and make the most out of Charnwood YFC – just like us!
Our roles mean that we work together as a team, as well as with the rest of our committee, to make sure the club runs efficiently whilst everyone has a good time. We aim to have meetings filled with laughter so we all go home smiling!
We balance our time well. We always call and text each other to share ideas, then set aside time to make things happen.
Our top skill is making sure we get things done on time, whilst making sure everyone feels included, heard and has fun along the way.
To recruit new members we encourage everyone to tell friends, family, school mates and work colleagues about the club. We also ask them to share our posts on social media to really show everyone what Charnwood YFC is about and encourage them to join!
We work as a great team to plan our meetings and come up with ideas. Our Programme Secretary helps to polish off the details and get it all booked in. Our most popular – and now becoming quite an annual tradition – is going for a tour and taste testing at an ice cream farm. It's brought back every year by popular demand!
Making sure you're heard, whilst also ensuring you listen to others too. You need to prioritise and make sure you keep smiling along the way.
Our tip for other people who want to give a role a go is to Just Do It!
It can help you become a better person by teaching you new skills. Just make sure you have fun while you're in the role!
