Our recent activities:

Recently, the club hosted an Eisteddfod Performance Evening for the local community, bringing people together to celebrate Welsh culture and showcase our members’ talents.

The evening raised an incredible £989 in one night through ticket sales and a cake auction, with funds supporting both the club and Glangwili Special Care Baby Unit.

This was a fantastic achievement and demonstrates what our members can accomplish when they work together for a good cause.

We also recently held a Halloween social with Llysyfran YFC, where members enjoyed getting to know each other and took part in spooky themed challenges!

We are currently planning our annual fireworks evening on one of the local farms, which is always a great evening where the community comes together.

Competitions we enjoy:

We compete in every aspect of the County’s competitions calendar, with rally being the highlight of the year.

We are currently preparing for the mini winter fair which will be the first Stockjudging competition of the year, as well as a carol singing competition and chicken jointing.

Nearly all of our members will take part in something on the day!

We also enjoy competing in the Welsh Public Speaking competitions with some of our members going on to represent us in Wales and being selected for the national teams of the NFYFC Public Speaking comp!

The Tug of War is a highlight during rally time with Eglwsywrw always entering a men’s, ladies’ and junior team! With weeks of preparation for the tough competition – it definitely brings out the competitive side in all our members!

Our community support:

Our members have been actively involved in harvest thanksgiving celebrations, attending two harvest festivals in one week. At the county and Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society service at St Davids Cathedral, produce donated by our members was presented to the local food bank. We also took part in the local Eglwyswrw Harvest Festival, where we presented two baskets of fruit at the altar.

Our fireworks night will also raise money for our Chair Ifan Phillips’ chosen charity this year – the special care baby unit at Glangwili! We also have a busy calendar leading up to Christmas with a quiz in the local pub as well as our carol singing evening just before Christmas!

We also volunteered and stewarded over the summer at the National Eisteddfod which was very local to club this year! As well as Nevern show, where we host the evening event – this year Tug of War – and ran the BBQ and stewarded the parking during the day.

Why we deserve Club of the Month:

Our club is celebrating our 70th anniversary this year – a huge milestone!

Eglwyswrw YFC deserves to win Club of the Month for its outstanding community involvement, fundraising efforts and the enthusiasm and commitment shown by its members.

Our recent activities demonstrate our commitment to supporting our local community, helping those in need and recognising the importance of agriculture and the harvest.

Another aspect that makes Eglwyswrw YFC stand out is the strength of our junior membership.

We have a large number of junior members who are already competing and participating alongside senior members from other clubs. Despite their age, they consistently demonstrate maturity, helpfulness and enthusiasm in all aspects of club life.

Whether competing, fundraising, supporting events or helping fellow members, they are proving themselves to be valuable members of the YFC community and the future of our club.

From raising money for worthwhile causes to celebrating Welsh culture, supporting local food banks and encouraging the next generation of young farmers, Eglwyswrw YFC continues to make a positive difference.

Our recent achievements reflect the dedication, teamwork and community spirit that make our club so special. We are proud of everything our members have accomplished and believe Eglwyswrw YFC deserves Club of the Month.

Well done to Eglwyswrw YFC for an excellent month in YFC! They have achieved a great mix of fundraising, community involvement and cultural activities.

We particularly liked their Eisteddfod event, support for the food bank and the way they have involved junior members in their activities.
