In September and October we have enjoyed a farm tour, a new members' evening, Bubble Football, a rural careers fair, a talk from a local mental health charity – The DPJ Foundation, an Ultimate Game Show night, rock climbing, a DIY Halloween Haunted Farm Ghost Tour and a Halloween Dance on 31 October!
Performing Arts, Stockjudging and Tug of War.
We host and take part in lots of charity fundraisers.
Every year we take part in the Coracle World Championships for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £1,000 every year.
We also co-organise the Choc's Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run in memory of a former Chairman Will Roberts, known as 'Choc' for his love of chocolate. We have raised over £32,000 for a local cancer charity Lingen Davies Cancer Support in the two years since we have been hosting the event. This year's tractor run will be on 13 December.
We also do lots of other fundraisers throughout the year, including hosting a Bonfire Night and Carol Singing, with all proceeds going to our three chosen charities.
Every year we also have a marquee at our local agricultural show – Oswestry Show – where we promote YFC to the general public and local community, and include a charity fundraiser game/challenge.
We hosted a Rural Careers Fair evening, with 17 local businesses, four colleges and over 100 people in attendance.
There is no other type of event like this available locally for the next generation of our rural workforce. Students and young adults in the rural and farming community could speak to a range of local rural professionals from businesses across different agricultural-based sectors, all in one room, on one evening.
They were able to learn about the different careers available to them locally, as well as ways to get into the roles, such as apprenticeships and graduate schemes. The whole evening was a great success!

We were really impressed with Whittington & Oswestry's efforts this month. Not only have they been having lots of spooky fun with a ghost tour and planning their Halloween Dance but they also found time to put on a careers event to benefit their members and the community.
They created the perfect way for people to network and learn about careers in the sector. It's a great way to inspire the next generation and we loved that their promotional work attracted so many people to attend.
Well done to Whittington & Oswestry YFC!
