Recent activities we have held:

We have had many exciting meetings in the build up to our rally, such as Tug of War practice and Rally prep.

We have also enjoyed a talk from our local vets, Nerf Laser Tag and Mock-tail making and one of our members also did a presentation to promote her YFC Travel experiences.

This month we also held The Great Netherseal YFC Bake off – an annual competition where all members bring a baked good to be judged by our advisory committee who dress up as Bake Off judges. The prize is a personalised wooden spoon.

We hosted our County Rally this month, and six of our club members were involved in the organising committee. It was a hugely successful day for the club, resulting in a strong second place (by just 21 points), with many Netherseal competitors heading to the national finals!

Members of all ages got involved and stuck in to make sure this was a fun, enjoyable day and promoted YFC in the right way.

We had great fun with the obstacle course, barrow racing and line dancing.

Competitions we enjoy:

We won both the men’s and women’s Tug of War competition at the pre-rally, Fencing and junior Clay Pigeon Shooting.

At the Rally, we came first in 4x4 Tug of War and Photography, second in Jewellery making, Traybake and for our Decorated Bins!

One of our members Harry Davies also came second in the national final of the Senior Member of the Year competition earlier in the year.

Our work in the community:

We put on food and refreshments for our county pre-rally day, raising just under £800 towards our club charities; one of which is in memory of our previous chairman.

We organised a litter pick around our two local villages to help give back to the local community, involving members of all ages.

We have also been given the opportunity to have a stand at our local Ashby Show in July where we will promote YFC with some fun, interactive games. Members are busy creating signs and decorations to promote our stand.

Our Chairman Joe has also arranged for the club to help clear up the local churchyard in Netherseal, where members are very enthusiastic to help.

We have many things planned such as afternoon tea events, duck races and more! (Just to keep us busy!)

Why we are Club of the Month:

Overall, May has been a busy but memorable month for the club – with achievements at the rally and in the community.

Although we didn't win rally this year, we feel we have come together as a club so much stronger and look forward to the next few months. We are extremely proud of all members as they gave 100% throughout the day, promoting YFC positively.

We wanted to engage members of all ages to ‘have a go’ with all competitions and we were extremely proud to see so many new junior members get involved.

We are focused on creating a sense of belonging in our club and the new club clothing arrived this month, helping members to feel part of our club family.

The judges' comments

There's so much going on at Netherseal YFC – and it's not just competitions focussed.

We really liked how the club make sure all members feel like they belong, which is such an important part of YFC. Well done to everyone involved in Netherseal YFC.
