It was our summer trip this month, which happened to coincide with Father's Day. We started at Hanger 5 Trampoline Park, followed by some adrenaline-packed paintballing. We rounded off the day at The Lost Coins pub, where we enjoyed some well-earned food and drinks, and a good laugh.
It was also our annual dinner this month, where we celebrated a successful year at The Llwyndafydd Inn with our valued supporters. This year we introduced an awards night, which included some fun categories such as Couple of the Year, Hambon of the Year and most productive ghost member.
Some of our members are keen to try the Tug of War competition but as a small club we didn’t know if it was something we could get involved in. Thanks to a confidence boosting visit to see another local YFC taking part in the competition, we are hoping to put forward a Tug of War team for the Rally next year.
We enjoy the Rally, Field Day, Eisteddfod, stockjudging, county games night and county bowling.
At the Rally, two of our members came third in the Recycled Item competition. In the Field Day, our chair came first in the senior stockman of the year – this was an even bigger achievement because it was her first year competing as a senior! Our Chair also represented Carmarthenshire in the all Wales Field Day.
Our junior Fencing team came first and also represented Carmarthenshire in the All Wales Field Day. Our Vice Chair came first in the first aid task in the Farm Machinery Skills competition. He also came second in the Auctioneering competition.
Overall, as a club we came third. An amazing achievement for such a small club!
We held our Harvest Thanksgiving service back in October and raised £212.50 for our charity, the Wishfund, Hywel Dda Health Charities. This is a charity that supports children and young people with life limiting and threatening conditions.
Every year we continue the club's festive tradition of distributing logs and mince pies to elderly people within our parish over Christmas. Many of the elderly community live on their own, and it means a lot to see them smiling when we visit.
Our Christmas bingo raised a whopping £740 for our chosen charity and we also held a Christmas festival, where local businesses were able to sell their home-made products. There was a best dressed window competition, Father Christmas and his elves, turkey and stuffing rolls for sale and mulled wine.
We are a small and young club that prides itself on being bilingual and inclusive. We are constantly giving back to the community in meaningful and impactful ways.
Through our ongoing efforts, we truly embody the spirit of what it means to be a part of the YFC family.
We’re such a good club at giving things a go, no matter the challenge. The members are always eager to step up, try new things, and put themselves out there with enthusiasm and courage. While they might not always come first, it never dampens their spirit or determination. Instead, they embrace every opportunity as a chance to learn, grow, and support one another.

While there can be strength in numbers, Cynwyl Elfed YFC prove that a smaller club can still achieve lots. And this month the club have done just that – with success in competitions, fun activities and celebratory events.
Club members show a can-do attitude and their success at the Rally and Field Day show a determination to succeed. This is evident by their eagerness to take part in Tug of War, and it's great to see they are on track for putting a team together for this competition next year.
Well done to everyone involved in Cynwyl Elfed YFC!
