Recently, members spent a week setting up and attending the local Camelford Show in August, helping set up not only our own tent but others as well.
Our tent was highly regarded, containing many new entries, a table showing this year’s club achievements, a photo booth area decorated with balloons and a little tractor for the children, with old milk churns and examples of grain to show British farming around our area.
We have also held a charity duck race and our joint Chairs completed a skydive for charity too.
We have also been to visit St Ewes Eggs in Truro for a club tour, where they have 1.3 million chickens and collect six million eggs every week.
Our club enjoys getting involved in competitions. This year members have achievied great results in the county and national cabaret and commercial dance competitions.
We made it to the national Performing Arts final this year, which was held in Wales. Our Entertainments performance, called Full Steam Ahead, came sixth and one of our members Millie Philip won Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
Tug of War is an annual club favourite, with many members (new and old) taking part in this year’s team.
Our club never misses Cornwall FYFC’s Rally Day, as it’s one of the most exciting days in the calendar.
We try our best to support our local community. This year we selected two charities – one closer to home to help those in our local area, which was Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust (FLEET) in Cornwall and a national charity, which was Motor Neurone Disease UK.
Throughout the year we have held fundraisers including a Dung Run, where we raised £800 delivering orders to the local community, an Easter Bingo event, where we raised more than £1,000, and a Sip & Solve quiz night in Tintagel social hall.
We also raised money by selling ducks for our charity duck race in August and asking people to guess the amounts of sweets in a jar on our stand at Camelford Show.
Our two Chairs also completed a skydive to raise money for the charities too and raised £1,000 after jumping 13,500ft at a maximum speed of 133mph!
We held the fundraisers not only to support our chosen charities but also to encourage our members and all ages of the community to get together, uniting the club with the local area.
We also attend meetings for Camelford Show throughout the year and try our best to help in any way possible to achieve its smooth running and success, including hosting our own Camelford YFC tent.
Members also took part in the Cornwall YFC WotNot to walk 120 miles along the Jurassic Coast to raise funds for the county charity Cornwall Mind.
This month our members have worked above and beyond, not only by attending and organising club nights but also supporting the local Camelford Show and hosting multiple fundraisers.
The last full month of this officer year was one of the most successful we’ve had.

The judges were really impressed by the club’s commitment to supporting the wider community at the local show.
They particularly enjoyed seeing the effort Camelford YFC members put into the agricultural education elements on their stand, making it both engaging and informative. And, of course, not to mention their pretty epic charity challenge! A thoroughly deserving winner of Club of the Month.
