Young Farmers’ Clubs across the country have donated more than 2,000 items to food banks this autumn.
The YFC Food Drop, which is highlighted during National Young Farmers’ Week, encourages YFCs to donate to their local food banks in October.
Many YFCs are also involved in Harvest Festivals and make donations through church services the club or county is involved in.
NFYFC hosted a form for YFCs to declare how many items they donated to their local food bank to help create a picture of how much support clubs give locally.
NFYFC Vice Chair Jessica Rose said it was great to see more YFCs getting involved this year.
“This is only the second year we have held the YFC Food Drop and it’s already building momentum.
"We know a lot of YFCs donate through Harvest Festivals around this time of year anyway, and we wanted to grow that support for local communities.”
NFYFC aims to host the YFC Food Drop annually, encouraging YFCs to record their donations via an online form. The goal is to surpass the previous year's target with each new event.
If your YFC has recently donated to a food bank, please record your donation in the online form if you haven’t already.
