Recent activities we have held:

We started off the year with a fantastic turn out of 40 people to our small village’s new members’ evening. A lot of these were junior members, which is great as we will get to see them develop over the years into young adults.

We have also arranged some great charity fundraising events and held brilliant activities with the club. These have included sausage making, a dance class, a fire station tour and farm safety talk, pumpkin carving and lots more exciting things for the year.

Competitions we enjoy:

We are known for loving Tug of War and everybody gets excited for this! We also enjoy competing in Public Speaking and Cookery competitions, and all sports.

Our work in the community:

We have been cutting up logs for our annual ‘log lug’ where we deliver logs to the local community at £5 per barrow and £90 per trailer load.

We have been taking orders and have already raised nearly £900 for our four chosen charities, which this year are Lingen Davies, Midlands Air Ambulance, Shropshire Rural Support and Severn Hospice.

We will be knocking on doors to ask local residents if they’d like to buy some logs for charity. We are also going to hand out flyers to let them know what the club is doing over the next three months. In November we have also arranged a young farmers’ charity rugby tournament. This is where young farmers from all counties will come and play a game of 7s against each other and have a great social whilst doing so!

Why we are Club of the Month:

We are actually the biggest club in the county with memberships at the moment which for little old Brown Clee is a great achievement. I believe we are club of the month as we are like no other! We are all best friends and take YFC seriously, and it’s good to see the younger generation taking part. Raising money for charities is what gives us a buzz seeing what we can do for other people!

What the judges said:

Brown Clee YFC stood out this month for their fundraising efforts and strong club programme. We liked the fact that they used a fundraising opportunity to also share information about the club to attract new members. Their ideas for club meetings are interesting and varied and they enjoy involving the wider county in activities too. Well done Brown Clee YFC!
