Recent activities we have held:

The first three months of the new top table have been intense! We hosted our bonfire night, Choc’s charity challenge rugby match, Choc’s illuminated tractor run as well as the annual bash – Young Farmers' Dance. The club have been driven and performed every time.

Competitions we enjoy:

We pride ourselves on Tug of War, Entertainments, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Stockjudging, with results in most competitions. Members thrive off the buzz of the competitions

Our work in the community:

We recently took part in the Oswestry Christmas parade, with floats parading around town, and then our own Oswestry illuminated tractor run, delivering the Christmas spirit around the 36 mile route.

Why we are Club of the Month:

The club has pulled it out of the bag this month, with a massive amount of money raised for charity.

The club hosted and organised the first ever illuminated tractor run in memory of a previous chairman of three years, William ‘Choc’ Roberts. We had more than 90 tractors take part on a 36-mile route. It brought thousands of people to the streets to wave.

This brought a lot of joy to the community and we saw lots of smiles on children’s faces. It was a positive way to remember a great friend and raise money along the way for Lingen Davies. It made the night very special. Our Choc’s Charity Challenge raised over £1,600.

Our Choc’s Illuminated Tractor Run currently sits at a staggering £11,556.84 and still rising!

Submitted by club Chair Charles Dean.

Judges' comments

Whittington and Oswestry YFC have rallied together to do something positive following a tragedy for the club in losing a former and much-loved Chair. We were impressed with the enthusiasm of the new committee and their efforts to raise more than £13,000 from their festive fundraising activities. Well done to everyone in the club who helped and Merry Christmas to you all.
