NFYFC has partnered with LEAF Education to provide fully funded training in LEAF Education's CEVAS (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) for YFC members aged 18 and above.
CEVAS gives farmers the tools, knowledge and practical guidance needed to host safe and impactful farm visits.
Twelve positions are open to those seeking to enhance their future career opportunities or increase on-farm diversification options.
The individual qualification status can be added to CVs and the nationally recognised accreditation logo can be applied to a farming or land management enterprise. This project is supported by Defra, covering training costs that would typically amount to £360 + VAT per person.
The training, which will be available from September 2024, can be delivered in-person over two six-hour days or online in two-hour sessions across six weeks.
Greg Parkes, a former Leicestershire and Rutland FYFC County Chair, said:
“I’m a big believer in the value of educating your future consumers as a way to add value to a farming business.
"Having secured ED1 (Educational Access) funding through the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, I wanted to equip myself with the necessary skills to deliver successful educational, curriculum-linked visits to school children. Completing the CEVAS training delivered by LEAF Education was the best way to do this!”
