Meet the five finalists for the Heart of YFC Award 2025. The winner of this award is chosen by a combination of judges' scores and votes from the YFC community.
The judges have interviewed the finalists and awarded points and these will be combined with an online vote. The person with the highest number of votes, will receive the highest score in descending order. These scores will be combined with the judges' scores to find our winner.

Suffolk
Not afraid of a challenge, Alex stepped up to be Suffolk’s County Chair at a time of uncertainty for the county, while also continuing his role as Club Chair for Debenham YFC. He has not only safeguarded the future of the county federation, but also strengthened his own club’s security by playing a key role in organising sponsorships and events. Alex is credited for his can-do attitude and dedication to YFC – whether it’s organising new County offices or driving miles to collect fireworks for an event. Members of Debenham YFC believe their club and county is in a much better place for having Alex involved.
Carmarthenshire
Caryl has been involved in YFC for more than 15 years and held roles at club, county and Wales YFC. She is described as a hard-working individual who gives her heart and soul to YFC. Caryl is passionate about the skills and confidence young people can gain through YFC and regularly encourages others to follow her mantra to just ‘go for it’. She flies the flag for YFC at county shows, with schools, the Eisteddfod and at large-scale fundraisers. Caryl is credited with successfully working with the county staff to apply for grants to help Carmarthenshire Federation host outreach events for schoolchildren to learn more about food and farming, and she has raised more than £20,000 for a variety of charities.
Leicestershire and Rutland
Joe devotes most of his spare time to YFC and is always looking for ways to bring the YFC community together. Joe’s welcoming and supportive nature encourages younger members to get involved, and as Netherseal’s Club Chair, he’s been key to growing the club’s membership to 90. His passion for community has driven him to organise charity events, including a successful tractor run, and raise more than £33,000 for charities. Joe’s enthusiasm inspires others, and his club are extremely proud to call him their Chair.
Lancashire
Meg credits YFC with shaping both her personal and professional life, and now she actively promotes the organisation’s benefits whenever she can. As Chair of Clitheroe YFC, she ensures everyone has a voice and feels valued by creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. Through fundraisers and national campaigns, Meg is focused on spreading a positive image of YFC far and wide. She has helped raise more than £10,000 through a local tractor run and has shared her positive YFC experience in national media.
East Riding of Yorkshire
Stuart’s positive energy is infectious, and he dedicates his time to encouraging others to have a go at everything in YFC and achieve their full potential. He is described as eating, sleeping and breathing all things YFC and someone who makes a difference when he’s involved in any project or event. He’s held many roles at a club and county level and is currently the County Vice Chair for East Riding of Yorkshire, as well serving on the Northern Area committee and NFYFC Council. A proud member of Beacon YFC, Stuart is well-known for his ability to network, gaining friends and connections across England and Wales.
