Job Summary

The Shropshire Young Farmers Clubs (SFYFC) County coordinator plays a crucial role in organising and supporting the activities of the Young Farmers Clubs (YFCs) within the county. The primary focus is to support the county and club-level officers who take on roles within the organisation. You will advise and guide the officers to ensure they provide, “fun, learning and achievement” to their membership, whilst also ensuring they offer a safe and protected environment.

About the role

Club Coordination

  • Coordinate and support the activities of Young Farmers Clubs within the county.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to club leaders and members.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive club environment.

Event Planning

  • Organise and facilitate educational events, workshops, and training sessions for YFC members.
  • Plan and coordinate social and recreational activities to promote camaraderie among members.
  • Collaborate with other county organisers to organise larger regional or inter-county events.

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with local communities, agricultural organisations, and stakeholders.
  • Promote the YFC program within the county and recruit new members.

Administrative Duties

  • Collaborate with the existing administrator to maintain accurate records of club activities, membership, and finances.
  • Implement and manage the development of county-wide policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Behaviour and Equality and Diversity.
  • Communicate regularly with NFYFC and provide updates on county activities.

Leadership Development

  • Identify and nurture leadership potential within YFC members.
  • Encourage participation in leadership roles within the club and at the county level.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to young leaders.

You will need

Essential

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • A full clean driving licence and vehicle available with business use insurance.

Desirable

  • Experience with safeguarding, health and safety procedures, as well as GDPR & DBS legislation, within youth organisations.
  • Safeguarding qualification.
  • Fundraising experience.

Working Conditions

  • This job description is a general outline of the responsibilities and qualifications for the Young Farmers Club County coordinator. Specific duties may vary based on the needs of the county and the Young Farmers Club organisation.
  • The role may require travel within the county, with some evening and weekend work.
  • The office is based at Shrewsbury Livestock Market, and the position would require a hybrid role with some working from home and at events.
  • The role is full-time; however, it could be part-time. Job share applications will also be considered for the right candidate.
  • A competitive salary will be offered with a company pension and ongoing training will be provided.
  • 28 days annual leave, including statutory bank holidays, for full-time appointments and pro rata for part-time.
