NFYFC to propose new President at Annual General Meeting

NFYFC to propose new President at Annual General Meeting

A new President is being proposed for The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) as Nigel Owens MBE’s tenure comes to an end this April.

YFC clubs and counties are being asked to vote on the proposal for John Lee OBE DL, a former NFYFC Chair, to be the new NFYFC President. Voting opens ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 21 April 2024 and votes can be cast online until 9.30am on the day of the meeting.

John, a farmer from Devon, is a well-known industry figure, having chaired the European Council of Young Farmers, as well as the Devon County Agricultural Association, the Westpoint Centre, Bicton College, FACE, and Mole Avon Trading.

John will replace Nigel Owens, who was first elected as NFYFC President during the pandemic in 2020. Nigel was the first NFYFC President to be elected online, due to Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time preventing an in-person AGM.

The final agenda for NFYFC’s 92nd AGM has been circulated to all counties and clubs with information about how to vote before the meeting.

On the day of the meeting, voters will also receive notification to vote on a motion about the NFYFC subscription, which will be debated at the meeting before voting opens. The proposal from NFYFC Council is to increase the subscription to £35 per member from September 2025.

NFYFC’s AGM takes place from 10.30am on 21 April 2024 at The Assembly Rooms, Royal Pump Room Gardens, Dormer Place, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 5AA [what3words ///cooks.slave.souk].
