Call for expressions of interest/applications – NFYFC Board Members

1. FULL YFC MEMBER (aged 16 to 28 yrs 1 September 2023)

2. INDEPENDENT

The NFYFC is currently seeking to recruit experienced and dynamic individuals to join its Board:

  1. Full YFC member (aged 16 to 28 on date of appointment) &
  2. A person independent of the YFC organisation

Term of office: Two-year term of office (a further term of two years is available thereafter).

For this round of recruitment, the NFYFC wishes to hear from those with experience and keen interest in the following:-

  • Championing NFYFCs membership aged 10 to 17 and understanding the needs of this audience.

And/or

  • Championing themed work of YFC is for Everyone (inclusion and diversity).

Who can apply?

  • YFC member applications can be made by Full Members of a Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) over the age of 16 yrs and 28 yrs or under on 1 September 2023 (accounting for Company Law, a Full Member must have attained their 16th birthday to be eligible to join the NFYFC Board). This call is not applicable to Associate members of a YFC club.

Or

  • Independent applications can be made by those with the skills and experience to bring the Board of a national charitable organisation work with and for young people in rural England and Wales.

How to Apply

All Expression/Applications of Interests to be submitted on NFYFCs Application Form

Application deadline: 12 noon Monday 22 April 2024

Applications are welcomed from YFC members and those independent of YFC membership who can contribute to the leadership and direction of the NFYFC and provide insight and perspective of the needs of YFC members, with an appetite to develop their existing skills and bring creativity to the Board.

The primary responsibility is to act as one of the Managing (Charity) Trustees of the NFYFC. The Board of Management (Charity Trustees) must act as the guardians of the financial, legal & intellectual (reputation) integrity of the organisation – in other words, to safeguard the finance, risk & reputation of the organisation – this is a legal responsibility of every Managing Trustee of every charitable organisation.

Those expressing an interest in this post will need personal authority, integrity and the ability to provide sound objective advice. They should be well organised, resilient and have knowledge/experience that will contribute to steering the direction of this organisation working across England and Wales as well as the ability to champion, influence and support the organisation as it develops.

The roles therefore require confident decision makers with excellent communication and people skills.

Notes

  1. Full Members of an affiliated Young Farmers Club are persons who have attained their 10th birthday and, on 1st September in any year in which any office, international visit or other such activity or event is held are 28 years of age or under. Note: Accounting for Company Law, a Full Member must have attained their 16th birthday to be eligible to join the NFYFC Board.
  2. An ‘affiliated Young Farmers’ Club’ is an association of not less than six young people who are Members but not Associate Members, formed in accordance with the form of constitution and rules approved by a General Meeting of the Federation. All such Clubs other than School Clubs shall be known as Open Clubs. A School Club is one based on a specific school where the membership is generally drawn from pupils of that School.
