What I love about YFC

Young Farmers is an organisation which supports every member and allows individuals to socialise, have fun and become well equipped adults. For me YFC has given me confidence, teamwork skills and friends, which can be mirrored in daily activities and will stay with me for life.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I am an active member and I’m proud to be a part of the organisation. In my club I’m always willing to give anything a go and support other members wherever I can.

I have taken part in many competitions outside of my comfort zone, which I’m glad I did, they have built me into the person I am today. I have continued to be active during the pandemic, striving to make a difference to Young Farmers. I have done this by helping the Youth Forum in the YFC Take Time mental health project. We created valuable resources for members struggling with mental health. I believe I am making a difference and will continue making a difference to this great organisation.

What I love about YFC

The reason I love YFC so much is it provides us all with a unique experience where we can meet like-minded people and gain key life skills.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I think I should win the Junior Member of the Year competition because for the past five years I have poured my heart and soul into all aspects of Young Farmers. I have entered competitions ranging from floral arts to stockjudging to public speaking. I have volunteered at club and county level and next year I hope to take on the Vice Chairman role in my own club. I have worked on committees and forums and I hope that in the next few years I can take on a more prominent role to ensure the Young Farmers continues. The Young Farmers motto is fun, learning and achievement and I think in my past year I have achieved that.

What I love about YFC

There are many different things I love about YFC, including learning new skills, such as: writing my CV; meeting new people with similar interests to mine; increasing my confidence in situations such as interviews and public speaking; and finally promoting agriculture to the younger generation, which I think is very important.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I think I should win because I am a passionate, highly motivated and enthusiastic young farmer. I would embrace this opportunity to further promote the values of Young Farmers and therefore inspire more young people to get involved in this amazing organisation, to help shape their future as it has done to me.

What I love about YFC

Enthusiasm, inclusiveness and encouragement are all what makes me love YFC! Enthusiasm is portrayed with members willingness for all competitions (even if you are a novice and taken out of your comfort zone), organising charity events and promoting our club to new prospective members. I believe Young Farmers is the most inclusive organisation, with a large age range from 10 to 26, to competitions being held at club, county, area and national level for participation for members at the level they wish. Most importantly, YFC has an effective and supportive community spirit which provides encouragement for all members, in all aspects of life! Personally, Young Farmers has given me a great social network along with members providing me with contacts for work experience, helping me with my future!

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

Becoming Junior Member of the Year would allow me to complete my aim of supporting members with excelling and enjoying YFC competitions, organising club level and beyond events, whilst helping the committee make decisions. My objective for this is for me to try a variety of competitions and roles so that I have experience and feedback to advise with knowledge. Also, if I was Junior Member of the Year I could channel my views and potential changes from local club level to a wider scale of national level, with help from my place on the NFYFC Youth Forum.

What I love about YFC

I love meeting lots of new friends, having the opportunity to do lots of different activities and learning new skills on a weekly basis.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I believe I should win because I am a committed member and try to voice the opinion of junior members within my club. This has allowed me to personally challenge myself and develop my skills for the future which will help me to progress within YFC.

What I love about YFC

For me, Young Farmers is all about the people. There’s loads of really amazing volunteers who go out of their way to support us and make the club incredibly fun. I’ve made some great friends who have similar interests to me and are really kind and encouraging. I’ve also enjoyed many awesome opportunities that would have been impossible if I wasn’t a member, ranging from driving a tank and representing the South East at the national stockjudging finals to meeting the Duchess of Cornwall.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I believe I should win because I am dedicated to making YFC really inclusive and action-packed and have lots of suggestions to achieve this. I enjoy organising, helping to run and participating in YFC events that benefit the community. In addition, I volunteer as a coach for many of my local youth sports groups, encouraging younger players to get involved and have fun, regardless of their ability. I’m committed to making NFYFC the best it can be. Hopefully, by dreaming big in the Youth Forum we can drive progress, increase membership and enable more young people to enjoy the benefits, support (both practical and mental) and excitement of YFC.

What I love about YFC

I just love that feeling of being a member of this organisation and of being part of the great “YFC family”. At local, county, Wales or national level I feel I am part of a group of young people, regardless of background or interests, who all have something very special in common and all share that same interest in YFC activities.

Since joining my local Club in 2014, the YFC movement has given me so many varied opportunities. I have learnt new skills, participated in so many different activities and gained so many experiences that I would never have done otherwise. It has taught me to win and lose, to work alone and as part of a team, and to help others within YFC and outside in the wider community.

The opportunities YFC has given me in the last six years have been incredible, on club, county, Wales and national level and I have met so many interesting people and made so many friends all over the country. I am looking forward to enjoying so many more experiences as a YFC member and am excited about what other opportunities lay ahead.

Why I should win Junior Member of the Year

I am passionate about YFC, and I’m full of exciting, new and ambitious ideas on making the junior members’ YFC experiences even better. I’ve organised fun, social and educational activities for our Junior members at club, county and Wales levels and more recently have adapted to organise virtual activities to keep junior members actively involved and in touch with each other.

I would now like to extend these experiences to a national level, introducing ideas to junior members and to be part of the wider national YFC organisation. I am constantly flying the flag of YFC and encouraging other young people to join the movement. I would really enjoy being an ambassador for the junior members of YFC and would do my very best to represent their interests and make their membership of YFC a great experience.
