We have recently just got through to the national final in the Performing Arts competition.

Our work in the community:

In 2022 we walked 32 miles and raised £10,000 for Velindre, a cancer treatment centre in Cardiff. We also take part in carol singing around local farms and all the money raised goes to charity. We help with the set up and running of our local agricultural show too.

Why we are Club of the Month:

We’ve got a fantastic group of enthusiastic young members some of which have only been part of the club for a few months but will muck in and give anything a go. Older members have stepped into committee roles, making sure we offer an exciting club programme for all members. They also help and encourage our younger members in competitions.

We’ve got a brilliant group of club leaders, parents, past members and supporters who are always there to help when needed.

Post covid the club was left with seven members but we have managed to grow that number to 45. We have also won the County Shield for the past two years and many members regularly compete at Wales and nationally. This is a club I am extremely proud to be a part of and strongly feel the club deserves recognition for all of the hard work they put in week in week out.

Well done to Gelligaer YFC for a community-wide effort on creating a successful club. They have grown their membership numbers following the pandemic and are now offering a varied club programme with plenty of fun, learning and achievement thrown in. Great work everyone!
