When we are faced with challenging times, it is easy to feel overwhelmed with the many different things that we are trying to achieve to keep life on track. We all have responsibilities which will involve doing things for others and let’s do those to the best of our ability but remember also to take time to do something you love which is just for you.
We certainly haven’t been lost for activities to choose from recently. So much has been made available online and is competing for our attention. It can be exhausting trying to select from the hundreds of options presented to us daily.
Try and think of something to do that will bring you a sense of achievement and satisfaction when you finish it. It doesn’t have to fulfil a purpose other than you enjoyed doing it and it helped you to relax.
It may be the time to revisit that topic you wanted to learn more about and do an online course or read the book on the shelf which you haven’t had time to pick up lately. It might be a film-fest which is right up your street, or it might be a day where you choose to do absolutely nothing because that is exactly what you need right now.
I’m going to 'start baking cakes on a Friday" because it’s what I love doing and don’t always get the time to focus on it. Spend some time thinking about what you would like to do for yourself that will have a positive effect on your mental health and then decide when you will start.
