The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) is one of the largest rural youth organisations in the UK. It heads a nationwide body of 580 Young Farmers’ Clubs (YFCs) throughout England and Wales.

Led by young people, for young people, YFCs provide thousands of members aged 10 to 28 with a unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local community, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme and enjoy a dynamic social life.


NFYFC – Training and Development Officer 

The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) is seeking an individual to play a lead role in supporting and developing YFC county federations. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Development and Training Officer with a focus on skills/training, charity governance (including safeguarding) and to undertake development work as part of the YFC Covid recovery.

The Development and Training Officer post has been funded for a period of 18 months and joins a team of two other posts that deliver front-line guidance and support to the YFC workforce, comprising of volunteers and salaried officers of the YFC county federations in England and Wales.

These are dynamic roles giving Development and Training Officers insight into the operational processes of a national organisation  working  for  and  with  young  people.    The  Development  and  Training  Officers  collaborate  with  the  YFC county  federation  workforce and  volunteers and the NFYFC  HQ  staff  team  on various  topics  and  programmes, especially  charity  governance  (including  safeguarding)  and  identifying  training  and  skills  needs  followed  by  the designing of training tools to meet those needs.Candidates  must  be  adaptable  and  enjoy  responding  to  the  challenges  of  a  busy  working  environment.   

The  roles require self-motivation and the commitment to see a project through to completion. Applicants must be charismatic, dedicated team players who can contribute positively and enthusiastically with a ‘can do’ attitude. Contracted hours are balanced, there will be some periods that are busier than others, and post holders will average a  37½  hour  working  week.   

Travel  throughout  England  and  Wales  is  a  requirement  of  this home-based role  and attendance at national meetings that NFYFC hosts (online, or often in Warwickshire) as well as team meetings at the NFYFC offices, Warwickshire will be required. 

Working hours will include evenings and weekends, with some overnight stays essential. Experience of working with or for a membership organisation will be an advantage.This is a fixed term contract -18months.

The NFYFC is seeking applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.  As a youth organisation the NFYFC is committed to the safeguarding of young people and adults at risk.  All posts are subject to Safe Recruiting Procedures, and these posts will require a DBS check at enhanced level.
