Young farmers from East Riding YFC pushed a bath nearly 60 miles to raise funds for two charities. The 12 members of Winksley-cum-Grantley Young Farmers Club set off with the specially-made aluminium bath from Ripon Market Place and passed through Thirsk, ahead of an overnight stop at Helmsley. The team, who are aged 15 to 21, finished the three-day marathon at the beach at Scarborough on Sunday (March 29).

The club's leader, Ruth Terry said the team had split into three groups, taking mile-long legs, to conserve energy. She said: "This was a weekend thoroughly enjoyed by all and a massive thank you goes to all our sponsors, supporters and organisers as without them it wouldn’t have been possible. This includes the police and highways agency who at times were hard to please but without their permission it wouldn’t have been possible! What a weekend! Raising money for two amazing charities and with great friends, it’s always a recipe for a top weekend! With plans already in place for another fundraising event, who knows what will happen next!"

They are hoping to raise £5,500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance & Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. To make a donation, visit their Just Giving page.
