Meet your Vision:2023 Working Group

A new working group has been appointed to drive the Vision:2023 strategic plan forward for NFYFC. The group is made up of YFC members, representatives from Council, County Staff and a Life Vice President. The group will also need to consult with the wider YFC membership, NFYFC staff and external consultants and partners.

The following people have already started meeting to discuss the plans and will be consulting with you very soon through a new survey, appearances at key events and at dedicated roadshows throughout the year.

Rachel Goldie from Yorkshire FYFC

“I have been a member for around 13 years now and recently was elected to be the Vice Chairman of the NFYFC Council. YFC is in my blood and I have always had a very strong passion for this amazing movement. I was Club Secretary for Great Smeaton YFC for four years up until last March and I am currently the Development and Marketing Chairman for Yorkshire. I have been a council rep for two years now and thoroughly enjoy been involved in shaping the future of YFC. Vision:2023 is something I am very passionate about and I am looking forward to working with you all. Outside of YFC I am a support worker for people with learning disabilities alongside helping on the family dairy farm.”

Fay Thomas from Herefordshire FYFC

“I have been in YFC since I was 13 years old as a member of Eardisley YFC. I have held various roles within Herefordshire – Junior Chairman, Competitions and County Chairman. I have been on the NFYFC Council for a couple of years and was the NFYFC Competitions Chairman in 2018-19. I am keen to see where Vision:2023 goes and want to help shape the future of YFC. The organisation has given me so much, so it’s great to help give something back. I love listening to members' views and like to see a job through to the end. My home life is farming and flowers.”

Marcus Bailey from Essex FYFC

"I have been a member of Colchester YFC for two and a half years although it seems much longer. I started late (joining when I was 24) so I have been making up for lost time! I am currently the Essex Treasurer and Eastern Area Secretary as well as being involved with NFYFC’s Personal Development Steering Group. I am a good listener and not prone to making snap judgements. Sometimes I can therefore seem quite quiet whilst weighing up the facts before taking actions but I am willing to put in the extra work where required. Outside of YFC I work as a Technical Applications Engineer in the Ventilation and Dehumidification industry – completely outside of agriculture. I am really keen to get involved and help shape the future of the Federation for current and future members.”

Harry Madin from Cumbria FYFC

“I’m a hill shepherd in the Lake District and I joined Lamplugh YFC back in September 2018 so I haven’t been part of the Club for long. I think this is as an advantage to being part of this group as I can see things from a different perspective. I work well in a team but I am also able to work individually by stepping back and assessing everything. I am very keen to make a difference and to work hard.”

 Tom Foulger from Cambridgeshire FYFC

“I have been a member of Comberton YFC for four years and have achieved a lot in that time. I have thrown myself in at the deep end with YFC ever since I joined. I was Club Chairman for close to three years since it reformed in 2014. I have been involved in the County Federation and was placed the ninth best in the Country at skipping! I’m always up for a challenge and keen to share ideas. This is definitely my biggest challenge yet! I am really keen to help this group shape the future YFC and I will be representing one of the smallest counties in the country.

“Outside of YFC, I am on an apprenticeship to be a store man for my family’s DAF Trucks Service Dealer business. I’m also a Tools Representative for the business too.”

Polly Baines from Staffordshire FYFC

“I’ve been in YFC for 10 years and have held a mixture of club roles and I am currently the County Chairman for Staffordshire and also the West Midlands Area Secretary. I’m creative and love the use of colours – so look out for all my information being very colourful! There are so many opinions going around about what should be done about YFC and I’m really looking forward to hearing what the rest of the country has to say so we can pull a new plan together! Other than YFC stuff, I’m currently a Deputy Manager of a day nursery on a farm in Shropshire."

 Laura Rimmer from Lancashire FYFC

“I’ve been a YFC member for 18 years and have held various roles at club, county and NFYFC. I have just finished my term on the NFYFC Council as part of the Personal Development Steering Group and as an Ex-Officio County Chairman. I'm now a Safeguarding Officer for my club and a YFC Trainer and am really happy to be part of the Vision:2023 working group. Hopefully we can come up with a plan to give future generations the amazing YFC experience I have had over the last 18 years! I'm known to be quite opinionated but always strive to get the best outcome for members. It’s a critical time for NFYFC and there are some very mixed feelings amongst the members. I'm keen to help build a plan that everyone can get behind, whether they are a new member just starting out or like me have been around forever!”

Dave Heminsley from Staffordshire FYFC

“I first became a member of Staffordshire in 1988 when I was 22 years old. I have been a Club, County and Area Chairman and am currently County President. During the AGM in 2018, I was made a Life Vice President of NFYFC, which was a high point for me, but then a few days following the event everything hit a big low for the organisation so I am really looking forward to how we can get our movement on the right track for a great future.

"My day job is technical support for JCB, working specifically on the JCB Fastrac. My main pastime is technical support for my own couple of Land Rovers.”
